MQM-P announced to observe day of mourning today (Thursday) in Karachi.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) announced to observe day of mourning today (Thursday) in Karachi to protest the killing of a worker when police baton charged MQM-P protesters in front of the Sindh CM House, Dunya News reported.

The MQM-P had earlier announced to observer a black day today against police violence to disperse MQM-P protesters staging a sit-in outside the Sindh Chief Minister House against the recently passed local government law but later announced to observe day of mourning after death of a worker.

One person was killed and several other were wounded when police baton-charged and tear-gassed peaceful Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) workers who were holding protest in front of the Sindh CM House against the recently passed local government law by the provincial government.

MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui while speaking at MQM Bahadurabad office confirmed the death of a party worker identified as Aslam. He said that police resorted to tear gas shelling and baton-charge on the instruction of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during which several MQM-P workers including women and children sustained injuries.

He said that we will register a first information report (FIR) against Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah for the murder of our worker which will also include the section of terrorism.
